Sintrivani station

Durable during peak hours, maintenance-friendly, timeless in design — this is the DROMEAS promise.

The launch of Thessaloniki’s new Metro came with a suite of infrastructure that raises the bar for the urban experience. Among them, the waiting-area seating designed, manufactured, and installed by DROMEAS stands out: a solution that combines durability, ergonomics, and a clean, contemporary aesthetic.

Design identity

The lines are clean and precise so they tie in with each station’s architectural language: stainless-steel panels, safety glass, and rigorous geometry.
The perforated metal seat “breathes,” stays cool, and is easy to clean, while the distinctive red perimeter details add a clear visual rhythm and serve as an unambiguous touchpoint for passengers. The central, robust support keeps the floor clear and accessible for maintenance.

Ergonomics & accessibility

  • Individual places with intermediate armrests: clearly delineate each seat, aid older or vulnerable users when standing up, and help maintain orderly flow at peak hours.

  • Ergonomic angles and radii: provide lumbar support and comfort for short waiting periods.

  • Respect for accessible circulation: the layout is positioned smartly away from tactile paving for the visually impaired and from door approach zones, so movement remains unobstructed.

Durability for the metro environment

The project required equipment that withstands daily, intensive use.
Reinforced metal construction with concealed, anti-tamper fasteners limits wear and deters vandalism. Surfaces are scratch-resistant and can be cleaned quickly with common agents, reducing life-cycle costs for the operator.

Functionality & flexibility

Every station has different geometries and passenger flows. That’s why DROMEAS seating comes in multiple configurations (3-, 4- and 5-seat) and can be installed as single units or in symmetrical arrays, as seen at the “Panepistimio” station. The modular philosophy allows on-site replacement of parts, minimizing downtime.

Aesthetic consistency in the public realm

The material palette and precision of detailing serve a clean, timeless image: surfaces that reflect platform lighting evenly, legible silhouettes, and a visual order that offers passengers a sense of calm.

Greek manufacturing, responsibly

DROMEAS delivered the solution end-to-end—from industrial design to production and installation—leveraging domestic know-how and vertically integrated lines. Durable material choices, reparability, and long service life reduce the equipment’s environmental footprint over time.
